Explore the world of science through your toddler’s eyes in this joyful weekly class designed for ages 0–4.

Each session invites your child to engage in theme-based exploration through storytime, a mini science lesson or experiment, music, sensory bins, hands-on play, and time to connect with other little ones.

Themes include Seed to Bread, Dinosaurs, Vets & Pets, Space, Trucks, and more—each designed to spark wonder and learning through playful discovery. Co-created with a NYS Master Science Teacher and now led by Ms. Jem —a Food Studies Specialist and Gen X mama of three kids born in three different decades—It’s all about learning through curiosity, exploring, and community.

The vibe? Think 90s-style playgroup—Out of the Box, Mister Rogers, and everything in between. It’s all about learning through movement, laughter, and community. Many class materials are secondhand treasures from local vendors or lovingly passed down from my own kids and friends.

Exploration

Curiosity drives everything here. Each session sparks wonder through stories, hands-on discovery, and simple experiments that let kids see the world in new ways. It’s about planting the seeds of learning while keeping play at the center.

Themed Play & Experimentation

From science experiments to sensory play to building blocks, every class weaves in a theme that invites kids to tinker, test, and imagine. Creating a space for trial and error — because the best learning often happens when things don’t go as planned.

Jemile—Ms. Jem to her youngest students—is a Gen X Brooklyn-born mama of three whose parenting journey spans more than three decades. With children ages 31, 23, and almost 10, she’s experienced raising kids across the 90s, Y2K, and 2010s—each decade bringing its own joys, challenges, and discoveries.

Her roots in Food Studies and community work blend seamlessly with her role as co-founder of Baby Science Club, where she creates joyful, hands-on experiences for little ones ages 0–4. Through storytime, sensory play, and simple experiments, she invites toddlers and their caregivers to explore the world with curiosity—channeling the same wonder she’s nurtured in her own kids over the years. Baby Science began with her neighbor Laura, a junior high science teacher on maternity leave, and while she’s back to teaching the big kids now, She carried it forward on my own.

Her love of teaching and creating grew out of her own childhood, spent working long hours in her family’s Brooklyn pizzeria and surrounded by a lively crew of cousins. Play and imagination were constant companions, fueled by the magic of Mister Rogers, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, The Magic Garden, Rainbow Brite, Punky Brewster, and Sesame Street. Those early influences sparked a lifelong belief that learning is everywhere—and that creativity thrives when community comes together.

Today, Jemile is the CEO of Luna Rose Consulting, an SEO and marketing practice she built to help businesses grow with clarity and strategy, and the artist behind Art by Jem, where she explores collage and mixed media. As co-founder of Baby Science Club, she brings all these threads together—pairing her background in Food Studies with her love of play and storytelling to create joyful, hands-on science experiences for little ones and their caregivers.
